icelandic porcelain

Horses play a unique role in the icelandic history and society. The geographic isolation of the island forces icelandic producers to import every resource not found on their island from abroad, this is especially true for some resources required for porcelain manufacturing. Horselain tries to combine the general gratitude icelandic people express towards the horses with the idea of sustainability – it uses the grinded ashes of horse bones as the foundation of a purely icelandic porcelain. Collaborative project.
